Very good basic scanner, April 30, 2012 By This review is from: DB-Tech 35mm Film Slide and Negative Scanner - Film to Digital Image Converter - with 2.4-Inch LCD and TV-Out (Electronics) First I am happy that my wife purchased it from dbtech because looks like it's the exact same unit as the ION OMNI SCAN Stand-Alone Image and Slide Scanner http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0046TBJEM this one is Just a Heck of a Lot Cheaper!
I had hundreds of old negatives that needed converting and I went to my local photo store and they wanted to charge me hundreds of dollars, I figured there needs to be a better way, so I sent my wife amazon shopping and I am very pleased that my wife found this for me.
For such a simple device, this scanner works remarkably well. (for what I needed it for) The instructions could be a little clearer, but it was easy to figure out the functions with a little trial and error. I would advise the scanner USB to computer hookup because of its ease of use. I found it faster to save the files to the SD card, remove it from the scanner and plug it into my computer, rather than loading from the Scanner. After getting the images off... Read more

DB-Tech Slide Scanner, July 20, 2012 Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?) This review is from: DB-Tech 35mm Film Slide and Negative Scanner - Film to Digital Image Converter - with 2.4-Inch LCD and TV-Out (Electronics) I bought this item because I had another type of scanner that I was working with and it died! So I went on Amazon and read about this and decided that it would work to finish what I wanted to do. I tried it and was very very happy with the way it worked. It took my slides and brightened them so I would have a very good picture when I printed them. My other scanner did not do that so my other pictures were darker than I would have liked. It is very easy to use and I was very excited to be able to use my SD card to save my images and then put them on the computer. My other scanner would only let me do 12 at a time and then put them on the computer as it did not use an SD Card. I love this product! It is just what I wanted and More! I am scanning about 2,000 slides and then putting them on the computer and from there will get pictures made. I am so glad I went to Amazon instead of going to a store. I am getting my project done much faster and the quality of the pictures is going... Read more

Decent scanning job, July 4, 2012 Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?) This review is from: DB-Tech 35mm Film Slide and Negative Scanner - Film to Digital Image Converter - with 2.4-Inch LCD and TV-Out (Electronics) I have 5,000 slides to scan and have done about 20% so far. This is a decent scanner, even though the quality, of course, isn't as good as looking at a projected slide. As mentioned by everyone else, have a needle nose pliers ready. Most slides require one in order to easily remove them. Plastic slide mounts can usually be removed by hand. Depending on the lighting in the slide, you may need to change the scanner's exposure settings for each slide. If the slides are of the same scene, then just setting the exposure once should be sufficient. This is a good scanner for archiving old slides and being able to email them and use them on a photo frame. It's been a lot of fun to see slides that we haven't seen in 30 years!!!
